The term Pilot is misleading because this in fact was the 'presentation' to sell the show to distributors. This was never aired. In 1986 (which I affectionately call 'The Regurgitation Period' of televison) Straybert Productions held auditions, much like you see now on American Idol or Making the Band, to create a new television show. And this piece shows that process.

Good visual effects for a little syndicated television show were hard to come by (not to mention expensive!). So in this version of "Burning Desire" we experimented a little with a 'heat sensor' camera. And where is Larry, you ask? He needed to go off and be alone. He probably ended up finding a girl or something ;)

I came across this interesting little piece of video where Davy Jones of the Monkees makes it sound like HE would have liked to 'produce' New Monkees. I find this fascinating seeing that the Monkees themselves and some of their fans claim that they didn't/don't want New Monkees. Ahhhhh, the joy of it all!
